WHAT IS TAEKWONDO?

Taekwondo is one of the most systematic and scientific Korean traditional martial arts, that teaches more than physical fighting skills. It is a discipline that shows ways of enhancing our spirit and life through training our body and mind. Today, it has become a global sport that has gained an international reputation, and stands among the official games in the Olympics.

Taekwondo is very different from many martial arts. Physically, it is very dynamic with its quick-action barrage of kicking and footwork skills that have over the years progressed making practitioners even faster and effective in their strikes. Modern Taekwondo training focuses on fitness, technique and athletic lifestyles. Many practionners have added Taekwondo to their regular fitness regimen in order to overcome any plateaus in their training.

Start your Taekwondo journey today! It is never too late! You will surely experience a more balanced and enjoyable life as you incorporate regular, consistent training in your daily schedule.

Taekwondo Testimonials

2013
My name is Bill Kerton. I am a 64 year old Diabetic. For the past 8 years, I have been an insulin dependent diabetic. On August 18th 2010, I was involved in a severe vehicle accident. The 3rd vertebrae in my lower back was shattered. The surgeons have fused in a rib bone with 4 pins. This  operation was unsuccessful. In July 2011, I had to have another fusion. This time there was 8 inches of bone fused in with 10 pins. January of 2012, I was back in the hospital with blood clots in both lungs. I also had pneumonia in both lungs and a blockage in my right leg. This was caused by the inability to exercise. In May 2012, I met Mr. Byrne. We discussed my physical problems.
In June 2012, I began a physical fitness program under the guidance of Mr. Byrne and Miss Mitch the owners of LABAN Fitness. In July of the same year, I began to take their Taekwondo program. In September I qualified for my yellow belt. Currently I am training towards my green belt.
The surgeon, Micheal Johnston, upon my last visit with him could not believe the difference in both my physical shape and my attitude. He stated that it was the aggressive approach that my instructors that had instilled in me that made the difference in my physical ability. My family doctor's last statement was that I was the best conditioned senior citizen in town.
To this I owe all my thanks to the care and training that is being provided by Mr. Byrne and Miss Mitch.
